The Computing Services Department (CSD) has asked the Library to inform you of changes for use of our VPN software.
The following advice is primarily for individuals who need an alternative method of accessing Library databases offcampus/overseas, or who may rely on VPN style options due to problems connecting to our systems in their region.
The VPN Client (Global Connect), is not recommended for offcampus/ overseas access for downloading journals, this is because the software is designed to access our local network, rather than third party resources, including DISCOVER and subscribed databases.
The Computer Services Department is now recommending use of our Citrix Receiver application for this purpose https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/csd/apps-anywhere/getting-started/citrix-for-windows/ (also see Macintosh version in the left menu).
If you regularly experience difficulties connecting to Library resources and rely on VPN style options, you can see further options on the Contacts page in the Library for Online Programmes (scroll down a little to the Network Problems section).
